Dirty Dozen v. Clean 15
Let’s be honest, buying 100% organic food is not affordable.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is an organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment. The EWG created a Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce(aka Dirty Dozen and Clean 15).
The Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 is updated each year is based on results of more than 35,200 samples tested by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration.
The Clean 15 are the top 15 foods with the least pesticides, while the Dirty Dozen are the 12 foods with the most pesticides that are advised to buy organic.
See the image above for a list of each! Of course, this is simply a guidelines if you’re looking to avoid most synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
